Construction of the Missing Link of Transport Corridor IXB
Start date: 2006 September
End date: 2009 March
Value: 20,9 million euros without VAT
During construction of the missing link of transport corridor IXB a 2.9-km long road was built. Pedestrian and transport viaducts were constructed, 5 km of noise barriers were installed, 4 km of the adjacent transport infrastructure network were reconstructed, bicycle paths and footways were also laid. During construction works Kauno tiltai AB constructed a 380-metre long overpass. Until December 2010 this was the longest overpass in Lithuania.
Kauno tiltai AB has built the most important and complicated object of this project – a four-lane owerpass using state-of-the-art technologies. The span structures and the separate elements of beams were connected at the building site and pulled from the erection site by using metal slides equipped on the stationery and temporary supports.
The project is unique also in the sense that it was not possible to close traffic during construction and any inaccuracy could unbalance the schedule that had been precisely planned beforehand.
