At the end of June 2019 a long awaited reconstruction began with the aim to connect Kaunas Free Economic Zone (FEZ) to road A6 Kaunas-Zarasai-Daugpilis. By May next year, a monolith overlay overpass and a connecting road will form a multi-level intersection. A round-about together with a brand new road will connect the overpass to Narėpai, while the overpass itself will allow to leave the FEZ territory without crossing the A6.
The area around the intersection will also have updated communication, gas and electricity networks, a new rainwater collection and drainage system will be constructed. The road will be updated with new roadbed and lighting systems. The intersection will be finished with all the necessary safety features: road signs, markings, railings, sidewalks and pedestrian barriers. The works will be completed by May 2020. Total value is 6,9 mln. EUR.
