Kauno Tiltai won contracts for implementation of the Rail Baltica project of international importance

Implementing the construction of Rail Baltica railway line of international significance in the railway section Šeštokai – Marijampolė the company Kauno Tiltai will construct two different width railway tracks: 34.5 km-long 1,435 mm-broad gauge meeting the European standard, and will reconstruct 35.9 km-long 1,520 mm-broad gauge meeting the Russian standard. In the railway section mentioned above the company will build or reconstruct and adapt for double track traffic 4 bridges and 4 viaducts, 10 level crossings and 30 culverts, and will install 22 heated switches.In order to be able to serve trains arriving by both, 1,435 mm broad and 1,520 mm broad gauges, station yards and platforms will be reconstructed in Marijampolė and Kalvarija. An underground pedestrian crossing will also be installed in Marijampolė railway station. 5.3 km-long noise abatement walls will be erected in cities and settlements to protect from noise caused by trains. In order to ensure safe train traffic and to protect wild animals, the double-track railway line will be fenced with 48-km long wire fence. During the construction of Rail Baltica railway line in the section Šeštokai – Marijampolė, the engineering networks infrastructure - power, gas, rain and domestic sewer, drainage networks - will also be upgraded. In addition, railway signaling, fiber optical electronic communication and automated electric heating of railway switches will be installed.
